Now that it's warm out, there are more places to lie around and read -- the front porch, the back porch, and the chair by the open window in my office. I've given up trying to read one book or article at a time, so I have reading material stashed all over the house.
The only magazine you'll ever need
In the living room I keep a pile of New Yorkers I checked out of the library. Advice: Don't subscribe to this magazine. It will bury you. It comes out once a week, and everything in it is good, but unless you have a very long train commute or you quit your day job, you can't possibly read it all. The covers are great, too. I admit I grabbed a few issues just for the covers. One was a tribute to Charlie Hebdo-- a drawing of the Eiffel Tower topped with a blood-stained pencil. Writers -- especially magazine writers -- all over the world felt the pain of that terrible attack.
